Missing Shetland Pony

A Shetland pony has been missing from the Wittenburg, WI area for about a week now. (The closest major city is Wausau, if that helps orient you.) If you live anywhere near this area, please keep an eye out for this little guy.

He's an eight year old chestnut gelding named "Dasher," and apparently he wandered away from his adopter, who got him from St. Francis Horse Rescue and Retirement in Rosholt, WI.

Dasher was last seen last seen on a snowmobile trail off Highway M. There (may?) be a $500 reward for information leading to his capture.

This hits me kind of hard, because my own horses just escaped; a deer had taken down the electric fence, and my guys just walked through the gap. Luckily, they just milled around a bit and then went to stand by the gate and wait for breakfast. I shudder to think what might have happened if I lived next to a busy highway. I really wish I had the cash for solid post-and-rail fences.

  1. Do you know if they have filed a report with Netposse yet? They are great at networking and trying to reunite horses with owners.

  2. Hi Sulphurfire-- no, this little guy hasn't shown up on Netposse. I wonder why. I'll try to contact somebody and let them know! Thanks for the suggestion.
